The Maxxis Shorty is a truly excellent tyre for riding sticky mud thanks to its tall shoulder tread. Its shorter, well-spaced central blocks also help it shed mud effectively.

Despite having an aggressive tread, it’s surprisingly fast-rolling in this particular casing and compound.

We have reviewed both the 2.35in and 2.5in versions of this tyre and would recommend you opt for the latter because it provides a lot more comfort and control on rougher terrain than the narrower tyre.
